mod office building
Nice, simple modern office building in Lakewood, CO. I would date it at late 1960s, early 1970s.
What is most interesting are the supports. Apartment buildings built like this over their parking lots are referred to as “dingbats”. I don’t think it applies to office buildings?
You can also see the slight slant to the windows.
I am not an engineer, so I am not quite sure how supports like these hold the weight of the building. I like how the building seems to float on air.

I have always loved the way this building “floats.”
I believe that it was once occupied by either City Of Lakewood or Jefferson County government offices, but now sits vacant. (Perhaps it hasin’t been torn down because it is still government owned?)
However, the land this building sits on has an even more interesting history than the building its self. After digging through old maps at the Lakewood Heritage Center one day, I found out that it was originally the site of a Drive-In theater! I found it funny to think that Lakewood once had 2 drive-in’s located right down the street from eachother! (The West Colfax is less than 5 minutes away.)
